Through multiple activities over the weekend, from a dinner with members of the first-year class and active chapter, to the open house and business meeting, the current active chapter took advantage of multiple opportunities to reconnect with alumni and share stories about being a Pike at Southwestern. The Alpha Omicron Alumni Association elected a new Executive Committee, consisting of Brother Mark Danheim as President and Brothers Ricky Post and Dustin James as Vice-President and Treasurer. Additionally, The Steve Raben Award and The Mike Rossman Award were given to Brendin James and Steve Ressling, respectively. Finally, in recognition of his years of service to the chapter, the upstairs study room was formally named "The Steve Raben Study Room" and dedicated with a plaque in his honor. Overall, it was a successful weekend and we look forward to reconnecting with alumni again over Founders Day this Spring.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://aopikes.com/index/2011/9/10/pike-celebrates-fall-bid-day-with-two-new-pledges.html"><rss:title>Pike Celebrates Fall Bid Day with Two New Pledges</rss:title><rss:link>http://aopikes.com/index/2011/9/10/pike-celebrates-fall-bid-day-with-two-new-pledges.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>Pledging</dc:subject>

Pledges Dano Mataya (left) and Tyler JoynerThis morning the Alpha Omicron chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha pledged two new brothers, Tyler Joyner and Dano Mataya. International Workday is an annual initiative of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity to encourage chapters to improve and renovate their houses. This year's projects included:

Restoration of the Barbeque Trailer: The baseboards of the trailer had rotted, making it unsafe to grill on. The metal on the grill was also beginning to rust. The chapter replaced these boards and sprayed the smoker, pit, and grill with rust-proof paint. The chapter also replaced the trailer hitch, as the old one was becoming unusable.

Restaining of the DJ Booth: In the chapter room, the DJ booth had become scratched and the varnish was wearing off. Some of the brothers resanded and restained the DJ booth.

Restaining of the outdoor bar: AO '09 had previously built the bar and it needed a new coat of varnish.

Other projects included cleaning the kitchen, reorganizing the storage locker, and cleaning under the stairs.

On February 26, the Alpha Omicron chapter celebrated the 133rd anniversary of Founders Day (March 1, 1868) with an informal luncheon at the San Gabriel House, a bed and breakfast just two minutes from campus. This was a great opportunity for the 21 pledges of AO '11 to get to meet some of the alumni and to share in a celebration of the chapter and fraternity's successes over the years. 30 alumni were in attendance, along with most of the active chapter.

Among the highlights of the event were brief updates of what was happening in and around the Southwestern community. Georgianne Hewett (Dreamgirl 1990), Steve Raben (AO '58), Pledge Class President Will Molidor (AO '11), SMC Alex Blake (AO '09), THC Dan Butterworth (AO '09.5), Sr. Ricky Post (AO '08) and special initiate Dr. Robert Snyder (professor of Political Science at Southwestern) all delivered addresses in the afternoon. Afterward a group photo was taken. Later in the day, some members of the active chapter and a few alumni played a rousing round of Campus Golf. It was a great day to celebrate the Alpha Omicron chapter.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://aopikes.com/index/2011/2/22/11-brothers-travel-to-pike-university.html"><rss:title>11 Brothers Travel to Pike University</rss:title><rss:link>http://aopikes.com/index/2011/2/22/11-brothers-travel-to-pike-university.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

This past weekend, 11 brothers from the Alpha Omicron chapter had the opportunity, thanks to the generous funding of the Alpha Omicron Alumni Association, to travel to Pike University in Dallas, TX.
